Co-Teaching: Why Two Heads Are Definitely Better Than One
Ann Cullen, Deborah Garson, Eileen McGowan and Millicent Gaskell
Moderated by William Fisher
In this program two sets of co-teachers share their experiences. First Ann Cullen & Millicent Gaskell talk about co-teaching as adjunct faculty a Business Research course in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Simmons College. Then Deborah Garson & Dr. Eileen McGowan talk about co-teaching a Doctoral Research course at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Dr. McGowan shares how Deborah’s expertise as a librarian was able to greatly enhance the quality of the course content for students.

So You Want to Be a Doctor?

Also learn from their experience of pursuing these degrees while holding a full-time job and what they have found the benefits to be of having this credential from a business versus an education versus an information management program.

Socially Responsible Decision Making: Ethics at Work
Moderated by Barbie Keiser
If better decisions are made based on good, sound information, what information can be provided to help individuals/organizations make socially responsible decisions? This session explored ethical considerations associated with these decisions, their effect on economics, health, and global politics.

College & University Business Libraries Section Breakfast
The CUBL Section Breakfast featured three presentations around the theme of business school outreach and connecting to faculty and students.

Spotlight Session: Practical Strategies for Improving ROI
Moderated by Gayle Gossen
This interactive session was filled with practical strategies that attendees could take back to their workplace for implementation. Karen focused on value-added services, business alignment, and revenue generation (fee based services for our external clients.) Vicky explained how qualifying and quantifying your value to a firm/library in turn adds value to your own career. The goals & objectives she accomplished in 2007 created opportunities to highlight how she provided an excellent ROI to her firm. Nancy Anne focused on the reporting aspects, data gathering improvement, and communicating/translating to government managers ROI with respect to funding of programs. Steve discussed finding better distribution channels to leverage and distribute existing electronic content in a streamlined & personalized, daily e-mail update that fuses the best information from important sources premium publisher content and the web.

The scope of the Business & Finance Division encompasses all aspects of business and financial libraries, including planning, collection building, design of services and operations, personnel, education, and the development of new business information sources.
